Amateur Radio operators are eligible to receive an Emergency / Callsign license plate issued from the state of Tennessee. There is no extra charge for these, but the vehicle must be registered in the licensed Amateur Radio operators name. Applications must be accompanied by a copy of your license.

If the above link has run out, you may also obtain these applications locally through the Sullivan County Court Clerks office (8-5, M-F, 3411 Highway 126, 323-6430) in Blountville (diagonally across the intersection from Burger King).


Virginia Hams may choose to get their callsigns on their plates for an extra $10 a year through the normal Personalized License plate system on any plate design (also extra) or may choose an Amateur Radio plate for $1 extra per year. Radios must be permanently installed for the second option. Options are available through the Commonwealth of Virginia DMV Web site.
